Chidambaram Traitor of India
While addressing a meeting of investors in Washington in October, 1996, Chidambaram is reported to have quoted the statement he gave at a meeting in London, a week before the Washington meeting, saying that: You came to India and stayed for 200 years. Now come prepared to invest and stay for another 200 years and there will be huge rewards. The demonstration in the capital would be followed by demonstrations at various state capitals over the next three days. The demonstrations against Chidambaram are to continue unless he withdraws his statement and tenders a public apology, according to a senior BJP leader. The SJM has taken exception to Chidambarams drawing an analogy between inviting investors now and the British raj. Terming this insulting, the SJM has decided to boycott Chidambaram until he apologises.
